Open Adventure starts up soon!
Posted in Adventure RacingWow is it that time already? Well not quite yet but my mind is starting to wander to the winter season racing and Open Adventure and their Open 5 series could feature heavily over the bleak cold months.
There has been a bit of a shake up this year with all the Open 5 races being a lot closer to each other without the gap for summer of previous series. This makes more sense than having the break for summer and also gives people motivation to get out and about when it is dark, wet and cold outside. They are now going to be the 1st weekend of the month apart from a break in January whilst you recover from all the festivities.
The dates for the series are as follows:
- North Pennines -- 2nd November 08
- Lake District -- 7th December 08
- York Moors -- 1st February 09
- Yorkshire Dales -- 1st March 09
- Peak District -- 5th April 09
I am looking forward to Malham in the Yorkshire Dales and Hope in the Peak District on the first weekends of March and April as I will hopefully be riding a new stead by then whilst running on familiar ground. But as ever with Open Adventure, all their races will be perfectly planned and executed and great fun to race in.
I suppose with the first race coming up in November I should dust down my current mountain bike which has not been ridden since March and hit a few trails, but with the OMM coming up this looks unlikely so look for me to give a late push in the series from February onwards.
Entry to the series is best 3 results from the 5 races are compiled and added to the final league. Nothing else needs to be done apart from enter as normal and race.
Prizes this year add up to over £100 worth of kit for podium winners and over £2500 worth of kit donated from Mountain Equipment alone.
